If you are going on a weight loss diet then you should make sure the diet you have chosen is a healthy one. Drastic diets can make you lose weight but in the long run they harm your health and possibly even make you fatter. Here are just some of the essential nutrients that any healthy diet must supply to your body:

Proteins are needed to keep your skin, bones, muscles and internal organs healthy and in good shape. If you have a vegetarian lifestyle you should consider eating eggs and dairies. If you don’t want to eat dairies you should eat soy, nuts, peanuts and whole grain cereals.

Calcium keeps your bones and teeth strong and healthy. Dark colored vegetables like spinach, broccoli and even turnips are good sources of calcium. Fresh fruit juice also contain lots of calcium.


Vitamin B12 helps the production of red blood cells which will prevent anemia. You can get vitamin B12 only from animal products. So if you are a vegetarian you should buy some food supplements that contain vitamin B12.

Iron is essential in preventing and curing anemia. You should eat lots of beans, whole grain cereals, green vegetables and dried fruits. To help your body get all the iron it needs form the foods you eat you should consume foods rich in vitamin C: strawberries, citric fruits, tomatoes, cabbage and broccoli.

Zinc plays a central role in the cellular division and the forming of proteins. Good sources of zinc include whole grain cereals, soy products and nuts.

Regardless of what diet you choose and what lifestyle you desire to live there are always good healthy foods that can replace the bad unhealthy foods that you eat now or you have stopped to eat. A good healthy diet gives you all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs. There are many choices out there. All you have to do is pick and choose the right one for you.
