The water diet: is it good to drink all that water?

Diets & Nutrition

I am not the adept of drastic diets and the water diet is one of them. It seems impossible for me to drink all that water on an empty stomach. I believe in a balanced and nutritious meal, based on raw foods, that is the best way to lose weight in my opinion. Also I don’t know any persons who have succeeded at losing weight using the water diet. I have done some research about the water diet and there seem to be two versions. If you want to try any one of them at your own peril here they are:

The water diet: version 1

First week: drink 0.5 liters or 17oz of water daily, in the morning, on an empty stomach.

Second week: drink 1 liter or 33oz of water every day, in the morning, on an empty stomach.

Third week: drink 1.5 liters or 50oz of water, in the morning, on an empty stomach.

During the day you can eat whatever you want.

The water diet: version 2

This version of the water diet helps you lose weight and detoxify your body, and it does it in two steps:

The first step: In the first day you drink on an empty stomach 1 glass of water. In the following 7 days you increase the number of glasses of water you drink by 1. So in the second day you drink 2 glasses of water, on the third day you drink 3 glasses of water… Then for 1 more day you drink 7 glasses of water on an empty stomach. Starting with the ninth day you start reducing the number of glasses of water you drink in the morning on an empty stomach. SO on the ninth day you drink 6 glasses of water, on the tenth day you drink 5 glasses of water and so on. During this 15 day interval, in which you can eat anything you please, you must start stopping eating all fast food, junk food and all industrial produced foods that are full of chemicals and food additives.

The second step: after you have taken off your menu all foods that are packed with food additives you go on a 7 day fatless diet. You can still use virgin olive oil to cook foods and to prepare delicious salads.

The forbidden foods are: meat and foods that contain meat, cheeses and fatty dairies, sugar and white bread.

Here is a small list of what you can eat during the day:
For breakfast:

  • One cup of boiled rice with skim milk
  • Wholemeal bread with honey
  • Cereals with yogurt
  • Fruits or a big glass of fresh fruit juice

For lunch:

  • A vegetable puree
  • A vegetable soup
  • A fruit or vegetable salad

For supper:

I wish you luck. If you have tried the water diet or plan to give it at try please express your experience in the comments below. That way more readers can get a better feedback about how efficient the water diet really is and if it is worth the hassle.
