There are 3 categories of nutritional elements: proteins, fats and carbohydrates. They all play an important role in having a healthy body. In charging your body with energy your body uses carbohydrates. Through digestion carbohydrates are transformed in glucose, the simplest sugar. When the sugar level form your blood rises you feel energetic, the sugar rush phenomenon. Eating a piece of chocolate will make you feel a energy burst because of the sugar rush that it creates in your body. Chocolate contains simple carbohydrates that pass fast into the blood stream.

Cool then eating sweets is the key to high energy levels all day long! Not really. It would be nice to be able to eat sweats all day long without the ugly consequences of sweets nutritional suicide to appear. Sweets are indicated when you need a fast energy boost and you can afford the fats and calories that come with it. You are the one that will have to live with the long term effects of eating sweets too often.

Your purpose shouldn’t be a short energy boost but a constant stream of energy all day long. From day to night you should have the energetic resources to succeed at every activity you have planned for that day and for eventual surprises too. Sweets give you a short sugar rush and when it ends you feel more drained of energy then before eating them. That is why the best solution for constant daily energy and for a slim figure are complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates are metabolized slowly ensuring your body a constant stream of glucose. In other words by eating complex carbohydrates you will get energy pumped into your body for longer periods of time. Your body will be fueled constantly during the day with the right quantity of glucose.

Cereals are a fabulous source of energy and you should eat them for breakfast especially. Cereals are rich in complex carbohydrates good for energy and dietary fibers that help your digestion be smoother. If you eat the cereals with milk then you will also get a part of your needed daily dose of calcium.

Fruits are another source of complex carbohydrates and a great way to refresh yourself. All raw foods have a portion of complex carbohydrates of different sizes. But nothing can beat healthy cereals and healthy wholemeal products when it comes to ensuring the daily needed energy.
