Jessica Alba has been conscious about the importance of healthy eating and exercising for maintaining her figure from a very young age. The big secret behind Jessica’s great looking body is portion control.

It seems that portion control plus exercising has very good results for Jessica Alba, considering that she gave birth to a beautiful child and still maintains her foxy look.

"Everyone in my family is heavily overweight. I wanted to be healthier, so I started cooking for myself when I was 12 years old. When I eat breakfast, I’ll have an egg-white omelette and fruit, or cottage cheese and a peach. For lunch, I’ll have a salad. Dinner is usually vegetables and chicken or fish. During the day I’ll have some dried fruit, or I’ll have a chocolate or strawberry frozen yogurt. I don’t really eat desserts or bread, " said Jessica Alba in an interview.


Jessica Alba basically eats lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. We all know how good fruits and veggies are for weight loss. Now all we have to do is remember to eat them frequently, just as Jessica does. Ideally more than half the food you eat during a day should be made out of fruits and vegetables.

Even though she is very careful about what she eats, Jessica Alba is still human and likes pleasuring her cravings. According to her “You need to indulge and have that chocolate cake whenever you feel the need.” So the big secret is a fine balancing act between healthy foods and cravings. It isn’t something easy to do off the bat, but it can definitively be achieved. It just requires a little of hard work.

Besides eating right, Jessica Alba also exercises a lot. "I try to work out every day for 45 minutes to an hour. I start out on the treadmills or elliptical machine for 10 to 15 minutes to get my heart rate up to 180 beats per minute. Then I do 50 lunges and crunches. Next I get back on the machine for another 10 minutes. Then I work on shoulders, biceps and triceps. I do that nonstop for four sets. When I work out, I have energy and feel good about myself," said Jessica.

According to her trainer the secret behind her exercise routine is constant change. Your body should never get used to one type of exercise if you want to reap results from working out. That is why it is very important to constantly change your exercise routine. By keeping it fresh you get fit super fast.

Besides from preventing your body from adapting to your exercise routine, by constantly changing your exercise routine you will be a lot more motivated to do the exercises. If you do the same exercises day in day out, eventually they will become super boring. By adding new exciting exercises in your workout routine, you will never get tired of exercising.
