Post menopausal overweight women present a greater risk of memory loss and issues. Although the further you go in age the harder it seems to remember things, being obese only hurts your chances more. Recent studies showed a worrying link between obesity and bad memory.

Over 8000 women with ages ranging in from 65 to 80 took part in the study. All these women were selected to not have any congenital diseases. The link found had an invert proportional effect. For every point added on their BMI, they scored one point lower on the memory test.

Lead author Dr. Diana Kerwin said the following: "The message is obesity and a higher Body Mass Index (BMI) are not good for your cognition and your memory". Plainly put, the more overweight you are, the more your memory and bran functions suffer as you age.

The way it works is such. Cytokines are a type of hormones released by the fat in your body. Scientists already knew that cytokines affect blood sugar, lipids and insulin levels. Now they discovered that cytokines are linked with bad bran functions and bad memory.

Well, just one more reason to lose weight a live a healthier life. No matter how much time passes it seems that scientists just can’t find a benefit in being overweight. The average human being, if overweight or, heaven forbid, obese has only disadvantages.

From high blood pressure to diabetes, chronic heart conditions to strokes, lose of breath to lack of energy and the list goes on and on and on and on. Now, scientists have added one more serious issue, namely memory loss.

Imagine this, you worked hard most of your life, you had a family and raised your kids. You had joys and you had sorrows, but none of them stopped you from living your life. You might have been little overweight and a little negligent with yourself. You might even have been overweight to obese. But you always thought that as long as you can do your job as a parent, it wouldn’t be a problem. Now imagine living this full life and forgetting about it.

If you don’t want to lose weight just to be healthy, then please lose weight to keep your memories.
