Queen Latifah’s Diet and Exercise Routine: Not Skinny Yet Healthy

Make way for the Queen, cause she has definitely done it! Actress and singer Queen Latifah, who has garnered different awards for her work in music, film and television has always been curvy and voluptuous, but when health related issues forced her to shed some weight, the Golden Globe Award-Winning star lost no time in dropping off the pounds, reaching her healthy goal weight in just a couple of months.

"I had read that if you lose 5 percent of your body weight, you could cut your chance of things like heart disease in half. That made me want to lose weight." She shares. "Anyway, I haven’t had to sacrifice anything that I normally eat, I just eat a little bit less of it."

Queen-Latifah.jpgQueen Latifah’s diet is a healthy and well-balanced meal containing protein, carbohydrates and fats divided proportionally to provide the body with the best favorable conditions for weight loss. This eating plan restricts the consumption of  junk foods and other highly refined products.

The diet allowed her to lose approximately 15 pounds every month without causing any damage or deficiency in her nutritional intake.

Queen Latifah’s exercise routine was developed by personal trainer,  Jeanette Jenkins, which concentrated on cardio exercises such as power walking, jogging, cycling, aerobics class, kickboxing, boxing and swimming for at least 4 to 6 times every week. 

Furthermore, she also does endurance exercises like yoga, Pilates, sculpting, and weight training at least 2 to 3 times every week to boost her metabolism, tone up her muscles and improve joint mobility.

"I’m trying to be an inspiration to people who just want to get healthy." She shares. "I’m living proof that it can be done."
