Weight Loss News

No time for exercise and homecooked meals? Welcome to the busy working lifestyle, where the combination of poor nutrition and high stress make for a sick and tired person– and most probably overweight as well. Because let’s face it. When you rush off without breakfast, drink coffee like it’s water and grab lunch wihtout thinking, there’s just no time for you to eat healthy.

You may think a balanced diet and a regular workout routine only works for people who have time on their hands, but that’s not true, and with these diet tricks made especially for busy individuals just like you, there’s no excuse for gaining weight even with your hectic schedule.

1. Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast

Even if your’e just not hungry when you wake up or simply do not have time, there’s just no excuse for missing breakfast. Skipping meals is bad in general, but is even worse when you decide to skip breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, and it kickstarts your metabolism.

It not only prepares your body for perfect calorie-burning conditions, it also keeps your blood sugar levels in check to prevent you from getting hunger pangs and overeating later in the day.

2. Snack on fruit

Being busy makes it easier for you to reach for junk food and other unhealthy food, why not snack on fruit? You don’t have to keep using the vending machine. Throw some apples and nuts in your bag, and munch on them during lulls or breaks.

3. Walk during lunch time

Aren’t you tired of sitting on your chair all day? Try going for a walk when time allows you. You can stand up and pace the room when taking a phone call, or better yet, get some fresh air by getting out at lunch time to eat and clear your head.

4. Stock up your desk

Choose healthier stuff to munch on when you get the hankering to snack on treats. Here are some food ideas:

  • Small packets of nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, cedar nuts)
  • Whole-wheat pitas
  • Rice crackers
  • Small tins of tuna

5. Stop overdosing on coffee

Don’t make coffee your water. Did you know coffee can add 200 extra calories into your diet? You consume it so much during office hours that you end up feeling strung out and fatigued, not knowing your caffeine fix just added an extra one thousand accumulated calories. Try sipping on green tea or jazzing up your water with a fresh squeeze of lemon.

The Skinny

It takes time and a lot of hard work and discipline to lose weight fast and keep it off, especially when you’re so busy you feel like you don’t have time to spare. But even though it sounds hard, a healthy diet for busy people is possible. You just need to make the right choices when it comes to exercise and picking out food.
