Apples are superfoods, and your teacher wasn’t kidding when she said One Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away, but she may have forgotten to tell you that three apples a day keeps the pounds at bay as well.
Why apples, eh?
Yes, you’ve heard right. Apples have always been good for weight loss. In fact, they are fat loss accelerators, their natural sugar curbs sweet cravings, and because they’re rich in fiber, they fill you up pretty fast to stop hunger pangs. Apples also contain phytochemicals and antioxidant properties, which boosts the immune system to protect it from all kinds of diseases.
Apple has pectin, a soluble fiber which turns into a sticky, sponge-like gel in the stomach, to stop the body from absorbing too much sugar too quickly. The pectin has also been shown to have heart0healthy benefits by reducing blood cholesterol levels.
Registered dietician Tammi Flynn developed the 3 day apple diet plan when she discovered that when clients ate an apple before each meal, the client was able to break a weight loss plateau.
Dieters are encouraged to eat four to five small meals in a day while maintaining a low intake of carbohydrates and saturated fats. Lean protein consumption is allowed for every meal, as protein has been proven to reduce appetite and provide quick weight loss.
Sample Diet Plan:
- Cheese Omelet
- 1 cup cooked oatmeal
- Half cup cottage cheese
- Half cup nonfat yogurt
- Grilled chicken breast
- 2 cups steamed broccoli
- Half cup brown rice
- Protein shake
- Steamed salmon
- Veggie salad
The apple diet works based on the principle that the apple, being calorie sparse, nutrient dense, high in water and fiber content allows the individual to "eat water" basically. This dampens the appetite and stops the body for craving food for up to four hours. This all result to quick weight loss you can appreciate over a month or so.
"It’s a breakthrough weight loss program based on eating well and not being deprived. Apples are really good for weight loss."
