How to Have a Healthy Balanced Diet and Nutrition

Usually the word diet is associated with eating less food. In some extreme cases it is associated with not eating at all. Many fall to the temptation and the allure of unhealthy diets that promise fabulous results. It is true you will lose weight following an unhealthy diet but you will damage your health and gain weight again. A healthy balanced diet is the best choice you can make.

Our bodies need more than 40 nutritious substances, that are very diverse and necessary to keep you healthy. There isn’t one singe food that contains all of them in sufficient quantities. When we reduce the quantity of food we eat we have to take into account all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

This is a common story: many lose 10 pounds in 1 week using a weight loss diet. Then when they start eating normally they put back all the lost weight and sometimes even a little extra weight.

A diet should go hand in hand with having a balanced nutrition. Smaller portions form all the 4 main food sources should be eaten. You have to eat at least 3 times a day roughly at the same hours. Give your body all the nutrients it needs and never starve it.

You just have to make small changes to your lifestyle and you will notice the difference. There are many foods on the marketplace that have a low fat content. Low fat foods let you eat till you are full and take in fewer calories.

Your body might need high caloric food from time to time. You shouldn’t exclude them altogether form your diet. Just don’t abuse them to feel better. If you can avoid eating foods with many calories at night the better. Eat foods with many calories at the beginning at the day so you will burn the excess calories during the day. If you know the day is going to be packed with intense physical or mentally activity eat a big healthy breakfast. You have to face it that at night you have fewer chances to burn the excess calories.

Many of the diets are based on the reduction of the intake of foods containing lots of sugar. But you can do that without renouncing sweets altogether. If you enjoy eating a big piece of cake or chocolate choose to eat a smaller one next time. By eating only half the portion of dessert you use to eat now will have marvelous results fast. It will boost any diet.

If you don’t like fruit that much try a fruit salad. It’s much more appetizing.

Salt is the enemy. Salt helps your body retain water. Try to use something to replace it or to eliminate it a little at a time form your cooking.

Ice-cream is tasty but it’s full of calories. You can choose to eat frozen yogurt instead of ice-cream. You can choose the size and flavor of frozen yogurt.
