The metabolism is such a tricky thing.  You see some thin people who swear they can shovel down any food they want and not gain weight, because they have a fast metabolism.  Would be nice, right?  While it may never be possible for you to eat a bucket of chicken without gaining a pound, there are ways to kick your metabolism into high gear, making your weight loss goals that much more attainable.

Drink lots of water

Your body needs to be fully hydrated in order to process calories.  If you are even the slightest bit dehydrated, it can lead to your metabolism slowing down.  That’s why it’s so important that you drink at least eight glasses of water a day to make sure that your body has the fuel it needs to keep burning calories.

Spice it up

Spicy foods like red and green chili peppers have a chemical compound that will send your metabolism revving.  Adding a tablespoon of these spicy little numbers to your meals can give you a quick, temporary metabolism boost.

Go green

Green tea will offer you the same caffeine boost benefits as a cup of coffee, but with a few added benefits.  There is a chemical component in green and oolong teas known as catechins that have been show to boost metabolism for a few hours at a time.  So replace that morning cup of joe with a cup of green tea and get a few more benefits for your day.

Make a muscle

Muscle in the body is the best calorie burner that there is.  By building muscle, you will continue to burn more calories and raise your metabolism on a regular basis.  So you should try to mix in some strength training with your cardio, even if it is just a couple of push-ups before every work out.

There are lots of ways to boost metabolism to help weight loss.  But the most important thing to remember is consistency.  All of these items will help you to get a faster metabolism and lose weight.  But they do more for you in the long run if you stick with it!
