A More Powerful Green Tea: energize the green tea antioxidants

It seems that green tea becomes more powerful and benefic if you drink it with citric juice. Lemons are a great citric fruit you could use.

The vitamin C from the citric juice helps your body to absorb much more of the green tea antioxidants. Normally when you drink a cup of green tea without anything else in it you lose a big part of its antioxidants in your intestines. If you squeeze some lemon juice in your green tea 80% of all the antioxidants from the green tea will be absorbed by your body. Instead of lemon juice you can use orange or grapefruit juice. Scientists believe now that the health of black tea can be improved by combining it with vitamin C.


You add the citric juice in the cup of tea. Studies have shown that citric juice helps your body absorb 5 times more antioxidants. Antioxidants are healthy because they destroy the free radicals and strengthen your immune system. That way your body is protected from cancer and heart diseases. Antioxidants also slow down the aging process.

Vitamin C is in itself an antioxidant. Smokers need a double dose of vitamin C. The nitrates from tobacco are cancerous. If you take too much vitamin C at a time your body won’t be able to absorb it all. Give your body only what it needs. A healthy, non-smoker person needs 60 mg of vitamin C daily. A healthy nutrition is the main source of vitamin C. Vegetables like broccoli, spinach, pepper, cabbage and fruits like lemons, oranges, grapefruit, blackberries, strawberries are fabulous sources of vitamin C.
